RELEASE NOTES - TIND 1.21.0
We are happy to announce the TIND 1.21.0 release. This is a major feature release with new features, fixes and changes for all products.
The release schedule is as follows:
> Release 1.21.0 Sandbox & Early Release Instances
> Release 1.21.0 to all TIND instances (UPDATED DATES)
> 1.21.0 Customer Release Webinar
We are happy to present the new Multi-viewer; taking the viewers in your record pages to a whole new level. All existing viewers can now be collected in this viewer, allowing your end users to explore different media types directly in the Detailed View by selecting the appropriate tab for the viewer. This also removes the requirement to consider which file type is preferred on your instance as all viewers can now appear in one location. This will also help end users to see all related media content in one place, instead of scrolling and searching through the record page.
Features:
Supports pdf, image, video, audio files (mp3) and iframe
Includes zip archive preview (NEW) and tabular files (NEW) for RDM
The individual viewers contain the same functionality as before
Preserves your selected file/location when swapping between viewers
Preserves selected viewers in the URL for sharing purposes
Configurability:
Split out a single or multiple media types in additional viewers
Change the order of viewer tabs
Change the tab labels
Define different configurations based on collections, resource type, or other metadata
We are already working on an interface for library system administrators to enable setting up multiple viewer configurations directly on your instance, due for release later this year.

TIND is pleased to provide two new viewing experiences to our TIND RDM users: a spreadsheet viewer and a ZIP container viewer. Research data output frequently involves tabular data files to store information, but a lack of descriptive titles may make it difficult for end users to retrieve the correct data file they are looking for. Likewise, zip storage is a reality for many research data organizations and is often considered best practice, but can be similarly difficult to browse. With these new viewers, end users will no longer need to download large spreadsheets or zip containers from TIND in order to know their contents. Instead, the whole structure can be browsed directly in TIND before download. With the release of the new multi-viewer, users can easily tab between these different file types, and use the included dropdown feature to view each individual file or container.
Tabular viewer
View spreadsheets (and embedded graphs, images, and figures!) natively in the viewer
Supports XLSX, XLS, XLTX, XLT, ODS, CSV
Spreadsheet viewer is added to the new Multi-viewer available in this release
View multiple spreadsheets without leaving the Detailed View
ZIP viewer
View the folder structure and contents of zip archive containers
Restricted content will not be viewable
See file sizes of zipped contents
Future releases will include the ability to preview archive formats in addition to zip.

TIND admins now have the option of adding a second display option of your search results, a new Table View, allowing users to select which one they prefer and easily switch between the two. The new table View shows the same results list but in a tabular form, with selected metadata listed in columns instead of today’s brief record view.
The columns are configurable, allowing admins to choose which are the most relevant to your instance. End users can sort, filter, and otherwise adjust search results in the exact same way as before. The table view is built with the same components as the Details section in the Detailed View, meaning that admins may suppress, reorder, and relabel fields in the Displays configuration interface. Likewise, functionality such as having a field link out to a search result is also supported.
This feature is available on request. Please contact TIND Support to set up Table View.

TIND now offers a new way to present your links within the Detailed View. A button in the Action bar will allow you to set up a 1:1 link between a URL in your metadata, taking your end users directly to an external resource with a single click. Alternatively, the button can be configured to display a dropdown list of links from multiple URLs stored in your metadata.
Submit a Configuration request to TIND Support in order to set this up on your instance.

The BETA version of updated Advanced Search will now be moved to production on all instances. This updated advanced search includes a design update in both the desktop and mobile view. Advanced Search now supports searching when using the Enter key and typing in dates for ease of use when navigating the search interface through keyboard use only.
As mentioned in our previous release notes, TIND is continuing to work on various performance improvements across the entire TIND platform. After this release you may notice that newly submitted records are processed and available much faster than before.
OCLC Connexion is soon being deprecated and has been replaced with OCLC WorldShare Record Manager. Starting this release, TIND will support the alternative service recommended by OCLC, WorldShare Record Manager, to continue to use the OCLC import.
TIND will also continue to support OCLC Connexion online service until OCLC deprecates the services, allowing needed time for transition. TIND will also continue to support export for OCLC Connexion desktop client.
The settings required for Record Manager are the same as for Connexion, so the switch requires only a few steps, outlined in this document: Configure OCLC WorldShare Record Manager

TIND has restyled the facets in order to make the search interface more user-friendly. Previously, search facets were not displaying the entire text value and the hover functionality only partially displayed all text. The terms displayed will now wrap within the facet menu so end users will not need to hover, and extra padding has been added between terms to make facets more readable.
The Submission Dashboard interface has been widened and the menu repositioned above the dashboard tables to provide a more complete overview of the table contents. All action buttons are now available without needing to scroll.
For submission workflows, TIND has also added support for adding timestamps only if the submission edit contains a curation note. This is part of the default workflow, but may need to be added to existing configurations. Please contact TIND Support to learn more.
We have added support for conditional checks in the circulation workflows, such as the hold request workflow, pickup notice workflow, and loan return workflow. These can be used to perform certain tasks only when specific, user-defined conditions are met. These checks can be set on either Patron Type, Item Status, or Request Status.
Furthermore, a new task “Set item status” is available for updating the Item Status of one specific item. This is mainly for instances using self-check services, where the task can be used for automatically changing the status to “In transfer” after check-in.
Authors may now choose up to three departments for their institutional affiliation. All departments are displayed on the profile page and searchable from the Author Browse search page.

The CSV export can now include your file-specific metadata in addition to the bibliographic metadata. The following fields are available for export; simply by adding the keyword “files” to your list of tags.
name
format
description
status
key
size
checksum
[Acquisitions | ILS]
An “unsaved changes“ warning would sometimes appear in the Order and Invoice forms when no changes had been made to the data.
[APIs | All]
A wrongly formatted API endpoint would previously lead to an Internal Server Error (500). A proper API exception has been introduced instead.
In the Authorities API, an incorrect content type led to a browser error due to attempting to parse the result as XML. The JSON is now correctly returned.
[Workflows | All]
Certain email clients would not render URLs as clickable hyperlinks. With this update, adding anchor tags in the emails will render the hyperlinked URL. Please contact TIND Support if you require assistance with this update.
[PDF Viewer | IR, RDM]
The PDF viewer contains a download button. Clicks on this button were previously not registered as part of the download statistics for a file.
FITS files can currently not be previewed in the image viewer (universal viewer), and the previewer will no longer attempt to render them.
[Brief View | IR, RDM]
A click on a PDF thumbnail rendering the PDF file in a pop-up window or new tab would erroneously lead to a registered download count.
[Detailed View | ILS]
The default Author display element used in the Details section incorrectly included data from the Marc field 711. This has been replaced by the correct 710 field.
{Batch Download | DA, RDM]
Batch downloading embargoed files was blocked for certain users, even though they had access to download the files individually. The problem has been fixed through updating the authorization check.
[Circulation | ILS]
The “Clear selection” option in the filter dropdowns within the Circulation lists was unresponsive. It now works as expected.
[Circulation workflows | ILS]
The email token “link_to_holdings_details” in the circulation workflows was pointing to a deprecated holdings page. It will now point to the record page instead.
[Circulation | ILS]
The maximum number of allowed characters in the address field in the patron record has been increased from 60 to 255 characters.
[Collection branding | DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
In the mobile view, large collection branding sections would be cut off due to the size limit on the branding section. The limit has been removed from mobile view only.
[Detailed View | DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
The field labels and values are now aligned in the mobile/narrow view. Previously, the label was slightly indented.
[Detailed View -Details section | DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
A type of special display element used in the global field “Keywords” was interpreting blank values as wildcards, meaning that fields with certain indicator values could not be excluded from the display. This has now been corrected.
[Facets | DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
When selecting a facet, the facet lists would sometimes expand and flicker while the new results list was loading. This is now prevented by fixing the height of the content while the updated list is loading.
[Loan rules | ILS]
The values in the “Allow Holds”, “Home Pickup”, “Allow Renewals” and “Allow Recalls” would revert to their default values when editing a loan rule. This has been corrected so that the existing values are retained.
[NCIP | ILS]
Returns on the Bibliotheca self-check machine resulted in a warning message on-screen if the returned item had a status other than "on loan". The return will now be processed as expected, but the item status will remain.
[Record Editor | All]
The record editor will not allow you to add fields where the subfield tag is missing, but when editing existing data fields it was possible to remove the subfield tag and still publish the record, leading to the whole subfield being removed. The interface will now indicate that the field is missing and block you from publishing changes until it has been filled.
[Submission import | IR]
Imports to the submission form from the source Inspire are no longer supported, as Inspire has removed the export format used for this transaction. Please contact TIND Support if you need to adjust your submission forms.
[Submission workflows | IR, RDM]
Previously, suppressing the field used to indicate submission form in the record metadata (usually 037), would lead to the Workflow action “Edit submission in form” field to not display on the record page. This has been fixed so that the field can be suppressed from exports without affecting the workflow action to edit the record.
[Search | ILS]
The “year” index did not always extract/interpret the date fields correctly from the 008 control field which could lead to unexpected search results. The tokenizer utilized by the year index has been better aligned with the Library of Congress MARC21 definition.
[Universal Viewer | DA, RDM]
Some tif image files with uncommonly image modes could not be displayed by the Universal Viewer. Support has been added to allow more images to display.
[AIPs | DA)
You can now partially configure the contents of the bag-info.txt
file. Both the fields themselves and their content can be configured.
[Circulation | ILS]
The “Request” modal has improved logic and will now only display request options that are relevant to the selected patron.
[Detailed View | DA
Further improvements have been made to the loading speed of record pages with a large number of image files attached. Certain background checks that were delaying the page load have been disabled in cases where they are not required to run.
[Knowledge Bases | DA, IR, ILS RDM]
The maximum number of characters allowed in the “Map from” field has been increased from 255 to 510. Both the “Map from” (key) and “Map to” (value) fields now allow the same size. Additionally, the input field will not allow more characters than what can be stored
[Search | All Products]
The author index now only includes subfield $a from Marc fields 100, 700, 110 and 710 and is limited to indexing strings less than 60 characters in length. This is to reduce a cluttered index and enhance search results.
Record Statistics from the search results limit has increased from 1000 to 5000 by default
[RSS Feed | All Products]
The RSS feed has been updated to better preserve the order of the search result (latest first).
[Translations | All Products]
More Norwegian translations have been added across the ILS
The welcome email for newly registered users is now fully translated to French on systems that have French as the default language
