We have kicked off Advanced Search updates as part of ongoing search improvements to the TIND platform. This optional beta release will address specific customer feature requests and introduce a modern, accessible, and configurable search interface for Advanced Search. Immediate changes include simplified user navigation, updates to date selection, and the improved construction of advanced queries with the option of adding additional lines to the search query.
In addition to new date selection dropdowns, institutions can also choose to promote two additional filtering options from any metadata fields to be added as dropdowns in the first line of the layout. The existing customer defined fields within the “Search In” dropdown menu will remain the same, as will dynamic facet behavior when using the Advanced Search within a specific collection.
As part of this feature you will also see a new “No results” message, providing suggestions for additional search tools such as Basic Search and Index Browse (if activated), and Search Tips.
Existing Advanced Search links and queries that staff and users may have saved as bookmarks or shortcuts will be redirected to the new Advanced Search and continue to work as they do now.
Near term improvements will include suggested authority entries while typing in an authority search field, a collection dropdown filter, and more options for date selection.
TIND encourages customers to test out the new beta feature and provide feedback before the full release. The current goal is to deprecate existing Advanced Search and replace it with the updated version in 2023.

[Viewers | DA]
TIND has made improvements to IIIF support including the implementation of the IIIF Image API for images, as well as the IIIF Presentation API (Version 3) for metadata, and the presentation of objects in a IIIF compatible viewer.
An IIIF icon is added to the action bar so any user visiting an image can easily copy the full IIIF manifest to the local clipboard for use in other IIIF compatible projects and applications as needed.
Currently the feature is limited to image formats such as TIFF, JPEG, and JPEG2000 and delivered with a default metadata template. Upcoming feature improvements include adding PDFs to the accepted list of formats, as well as custom metadata.

[Metadata | DA]
TIND DA users are now able to automatically embed custom metadata fields into the properties of their file upon download. The files will be unaltered save for the enrichment of additional metadata, such as download date/time or bibliographic data. This action does not impact the original stored and preserved file, as only file derivatives created for local download may be enriched. Embedded metadata can be viewed using specialized third party tools such as exiftool or local operating system tools to examine file properties.
This feature is controlled using roles. Administrators choose which users can download the original, unaltered copy by assigning the vieworiginaldoc action. All other users will receive metadata enriched files upon download
Embedded Metadata Enrichment may be helpful for institutions requiring a more secure digital footprint for their collections or to embed metadata related to provenance.

[Access Permissions | IR]
Fixed a bug where users that should have had access to internal files were not authorized to view or download the files.
[Integration | IR]
Fixed a bug affecting Google Scholar where metadata was being dropped from a customer’s custom schema.
[Integration | IR]
Corrected an element in a schema which caused a timeout preventing OAI-PMH publishing.
[Search | ILS, DA, IR, RDM ]
Fixed a bug where a customer was unable to discover Daniel O’Sullivan when searching for Sullivan.
[Static Pages | IR]
Fixed a bug where browsing to any static page or to the Static Pages module yielded a 500 error.
[Submission | IR]
New record submissions would only be partially processed if DOI creation was not successful. Now, submissions will be fully processed without DOI and customers will be notified that DOI creation was unsuccessful upon submission.
[Viewer | DA]
Thumbnails were not loading images, instead only displaying the default spinner. A fix was created and thumbnails are now displaying correctly
Display [ILS, DA, IR, RDM]
The caret button ^ which is used to expand the collections menu on the main search page has been adjusted. It has been moved down slightly to accommodate and prevent overlap with the growing number of links which appear under the search box. TIND will consider a new design method for future development. Please contact TIND Support with any questions or concerns.

TIND now supports concatenation of subfields within the Author, Subject, Geographic, and Title fields so additional subfield terms can also appear within facets and index browse.
