RELEASE NOTES - TIND 27.1.0
We are pleased to announce TIND release 27.1.0.
This is a minor release focusing on a number of technical improvements and fixes, including a wide array of bug fixes across the platform. Among the things you can look forward to in this upgrade is speedier batch uploads, including batch OCR processing of images.
For those using the OpenRefine CSV upload, there is also an important update to the recommended procedure for how to structure your ingest files. Please visit our OpenRefine documentation for more information!
File metadata update change: There was a sync function between the file metadata fields (8564_) in the record metadata to the file level metadata, meaning that if the description was updated in the record, this was populated to the file metadata. This method is not supported for file metadata updates and has been removed, as it was having some unwanted side-effects. File metadata should only be updated using the file manager and through FFT tags.
User Registration Notifications: We have changed which of the system administrator emails that will receive notifications of new user registrations. Previously, the notifications were sent to the site admin email, but going forward, they will be sent to the site support email.
The 27.1.0 release schedule is as follows:
> Release 27.1.0 Sandbox & Early Release Instances
> Release 27.1.0 to all TIND instances
[Batch Uploader / Performance - All]
Since the previous release, we have made changes to how the batch upload functions, resulting in both faster and more reliable uploads.
speed improvements: All kinds of upload should be faster to process. In particular, updates on records with many data fields should be significantly faster.
Roll-back on error: The system now rolls back its state if the upload fails, meaning that the state will be as if the upload never happened, including record revision history and FFTs. You will be notified of the problem encountered and after it is fixed, you can re-submit the upload job without worrying about partially uploaded records.
Note that this doesn't apply to DOI modifications -- for example, if you submitted a job that includes a DOI creation and the job fails after staging the record, the DOI will have been created.
[Transcriptions & Subtitles / DA]
Added an option to remove transcription options from the File Manager. This is useful for those who want to auto-generate transcriptions on ingest for every uploaded file.
[OCR Batch Improvements / DA]
A better queuing system for OCR processing task means faster generation of OCR as well as fewer record edits.
[Workflows / All ]
Added new workflow actions to update both a parent record and its child records.
[ Submission Forms / All ]
Added text wrapping in dropdowns for the updated dropdown element.
[ Translations / All ]
Updated French translations for ILS displays
Updated Spanish labels for the Fulltext Search toggle
Improved on an unstable connection to FAST auto-lookup in submission forms.
Corrected an issue where the lookup failed if the authority record was missing the system identifier field to map to subfield 0. Now, the remaining subfields will map regardless of the presence of a system field.
Baskets [All] - Fixed an issue where HTML code was displayed in Basket select lists.
Detail View [All] - In the Detail View configuration page, the sections would change order unexpectedly upon page load. The sections are now displayed in a fixed order.
Export [All] - Resolved a bug where the Excel report only concatenated subfields when MARC fields were explicitly specified.
Record Editor - Lookup [All] - When using the lookup on a second subfield in a new datafield, the lookup subfield would be removed if the user did not hit enter after adding the first subfield. Hitting enter is no longer necessary before using the plus sign to add another subfield using lookup.
Acquisitions [ILS] - Removed numerical subfield values from the title field in Order records.
Circulation [ILS]:
Corrected the right-hand side drop-down menus in the Loans list being cut off.
Resolved a database error when attempting to change an item barcode.
Holdings [ILS] - Resolved an issue where deleted Holding records were referenced in the Detail View of the bibliographic record.
Workflows [ILS] - Fixed a bug preventing patrons from receiving overdue notifications due to failed tasks.
Media Processing [DA, RDM] - Corrected an issue where the link to documentation and back button didn't work on the media processing dashboard.
Submission Forms [DA, IR, RDM]:
Resolved an issue where the DOI field was not being populated correctly on DOI import.
Fixed a bug causing file descriptions not to save when added in the submission form File Manager.
Fixed an issue where the “Save" button disappeared in some cases.
This new sections contains an overview of updates that were deployed as patch updates between this release and the previous (27.0.0).
