RELEASE NOTES - TIND 25.0.0 - DA/IR/RDM
Happy New Year!
We hope you all enjoyed a welcome break over the holidays and are now back in action same as us. The Product Team sends sincere a thank you for your collaboration, engagement and invaluable input toward developing and improving the TIND platform in 2024.
The roadmap for this year is no less packed in 2025 and we plan to bring you many exciting new features in the months to come, starting with some we know many of you have been waiting for…
The 25.0.0 release schedule is as follows:
> Release 25.0.0 Sandbox & Early Release Instances
> Release 25.0.0 to all TIND instances
> Release 25.0.0 Webinar
[Search | DA, ILS, IR, RDM]
A new type of facet is now available, allowing end users to filter search results using a range rather than the current select boxes. It was created specifically with date ranges in mind, but can also be used for other numeric facets.
If you are interested in activating this feature, please contact TIND Support for configuration.
[File Management | DA, RDM]
[File Management / DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
With this release you can now use two alternative identifiers to navigate directly to a record in your repository using a special URL syntax. In the URL, you can specify whether to look up a control number (MARC field 035__a), or a DOI (MARC field 0247_a).
If there is a single match, you will be redirected to the Detail View of the record. If there are multiple matches, you will be taken to a search result page where the matches will be listed.
[File Management / DA]
In the previous release, we added support for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) using the engine Textract, making the text in your images searchable. With this new version, an additional transcript (.txt) file will be added to files that are OCR processed using the Textract engine. For image files displayed in the Universal Viewer, these transcripts will display in the “More information” panel, allowing end users to easily read the extracted text.
As with .hocr files, the text files are not made available for user download in the Files section in the Detail View, but can be accessed by administrators in the File Manager.
Contact TIND Support if you are interested in learning more about TINDs OCR feature.
[Metadata / DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
You can now use a special token when creating or modifying records in order to reference the record ID in the metadata. By adding the token inside a predefined field, the token will be replaced by the record ID of the record itself. The token can also be used in FFT tags to e.g. include the record ID in a file name when uploading files.
This feature requires configuration. Please contact TIND Support to set it up on your instance.
[PDF Viewer / IR, RDM]
The experience of loading large PDF files in the PDF previewer can now be improved by ensuring your PDF files are linearized before ingesting them. Linearized PDFs provides a streaming-like user experience.
[Detail View / DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
A more granular filter option is now available for display fields is now available in the Details section. This can be used for fields that may contain certain constant values in other subfields, such as “Contributor”, which can now be configured to only display the name if the contributor role is “Photographer”, allowing a separate field for this role. Likewise, the name can also be excluded from the regular “Contributor” field.
[Exports / DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
The DublinCore XML export format has been added to the Export modal for all default administrator roles as well as the anyuser role.
[Preservation / DA]
Several improvements have been added to the AIP packages
Records are encoded as premis:representation instead of premis:intellectualEntity
Checksum calculation is recorded as a premis:event of type message digest calculation for every file
Local identifiers have been made more granular compared to simply local. The meaning of each identifier is described in a README.md file.
Agents are now deduplicated inside the preservation.xml file, listing each agent once within mets:amdSec/mets:digiprovMD/mets:mdWrap/mets:xmlData/premis:agent structures and referencing them using linkingAgentIdentifier throughout the file.
For files, the relationship to the record is now listed in a new element premis:relationship
[Users & access / IR, RDM, DA]
The “User Information” section has been removed from the account creation page. The fields were previously used for registering patron information in the ILS system, but has since been deprecated.
[General / DA, IR, ILS, RDM]
A notification is now sent to the configured Site Support email address when overlay commands fail, notifying site administrators as well as the user who triggered the overlay command to run, of the failure.
Detail View: Faster loading of the Files section for records with a very large number of files attached.
Search [DA | ILS | IR | RDM] : Under certain conditions some titles containing numbers but otherwise identical would not be sorted correctly.
Record Editor [DA | ILS | IR | RDM] : The check that prevents copying the 8564_ field from one record to another when cloning a record has been refined in order to check for file-specific data, meaning that values not related to files will be copied to the new record.
Detail View [DA | IR | RDM]: The “Edit in form” button would display on any records with a 037 field in the metadata, even if the value did not reference a submission form. This check has been refined.
schema.org [DA | IR | RDM]: Edits made to records without files would not trigger an update of the schema.org json.
Detail View [DA | IR | RDM]: The “Edit in form” button would display to some users who did not have access to edit the record. The access checks have been refined to avoid this.
Displays [DA | ILS | IR | RDM]: Suppressed metadata fields can now be used to determine which display template to apply to a record.
