New features for ILS customers
Using the same technology as the order and invoice forms, we have implemented several new and powerful editors for ILS specific data types.
More control over patron records with patron editor
The new patron editor makes it easier to create and edit patron records, and exposes more data elements for editing by administrators.
- Create new patron records with corresponding user accounts from one page
- Edit and add patron notes – notes are viewable and exportable in global lists
- Edit external identifier for institutions with SSO integration
For ILS customers, the patron editor replaces creation of user accounts in the Users & Access module. For other customers, account creation is still done in the Users & Access module. Automatic creation through SSO works as before.
To learn more about the new patron editor and patron management workflows, you can read our documentation or watch this excerpt from an internal training session we had:
Easier editing of item records with item editor
Managing item-specific data has become a much more user friendly experience. The new editor brings together many data elements into a single editor screen.
- Update basic descriptive data such as call number, location and item type
- Update serials specific data such as issue and volume
- View related acquisitions data for context
- Change the bibliographic record ID to move items between records
The new item editor replaces editing items within the circulation module.
To learn more about the new item editor and item management workflows, you can read our documentation or watch this excerpt from an internal training session we had:
Create and manage vendors and fund codes
Vendors and fund codes are now available for management by administrators. You can create new – and edit existing – vendors and funds.
- Update vendor data such as name, contact information and address
- Add individual vendor notes
- Update fund names
Read more about the vendor editor and the fund editor.
New customization options for global lists
We’ve added new customization options for global lists search results.
- Truncate or wrap content of individual cells where data exceeds available width
- Display complex data as child tables
- Patron notes and vendor notes can be rendered beneath the row as their own tables
- Single rows can be expanded, or they can all be expanded at once by clicking on the Expand all notes button at the top.
- Supports data exports to .xslx and .csv
Read more about the new customization options in our documentation.
New actions for global lists
We’ve added new actions for global lists.
- Change to a different bibliographic records for items (documentation)
- Change the patron type for patron records (documentation)
- Edit an individual object
- Create new objects
New granular access control for global lists and object editors
We’ve added several new actions for controlling access rights to global lists in a more granular way. For each individual view within global lists, we’ve added...
- Read only rights (search and export)
- Read and write rights (search, export and bulk edit)
The individual documentation articles present the possible actions to limit access (items, patrons, orders, invoices, vendors, funds, loans and holds).
New model for presenting metadata in the record page
We've worked on a new way to manage the configurations for presenting metadata in the record page.
First, we are gradually implementing a shared template model for customers. This shared template model facilitates faster and easier deployment of improvements to all customers.
- For ILS customers, we've worked on expanding the number of supported fields and making some fields more granular.
- We've also implemented support for displaying alternative scripts through linked 880 fields (Link to documentation).
- Author elements can now be configured according to which subfields to display and which subfields to include in the search link. A common scenario for this is to allow displaying an author role (subfield $e) without including that role in the search.
Second, we’ve introduced a new administration page for individual configuration of these templates.
- Suppress displaying metadata for guests or staff
- Reorder display elements
- Easily request local fields with custom labels and source metadata fields
Even though most fields are global and shared among customers, some fields support local conventions by allowing for overrides of the label (see this list of display elements supporting local overrides of labels).
Read more about customizing the display of metadata in the record page in our documentation.
New configuration options for suppressing metadata fields
We've added a configuration page for setting suppressed metadata fields, which allows to easily set which fields should be inaccessible to end users.
- Suppressing fields in this page suppresses them from search, metadata exports as well as the record page and search results page
- Administer suppressed fields without submitting configuration requests through the support portal
- Allow staff access to fields, or suppress from all users
Read more about suppressing metadata fields in our documentation.
Specialized invoice lines export option
The export options for invoices in global lists have been expanded to include an option to export individual invoice lines.
- Run exports of individual invoice lines with relevant information present in each row
- Supports .csv and .xlsx exports
Read more about invoice lines exports in our documentation.
Edit individual order lines within an order form
You can now edit individual order lines without leaving the order form itself.
- The order itself will update to reflect the changes made in the individual order lines
- Cost fields are locked based on the status of the order status
Read more about editing order lines in our documentation.
Several improvements to label printing
We've added support for label printers using ZPL (Zebra Programming Language), as an alternative to DYMO printers.
- ZPL allow for flexible configuration of label templates
- Preview the results ZPL templates in the browser
- Print out test documents
Read more about ZPL in our documentation.
Added integration for ordering through Harrassowitz
We've added a real-time integration for ordering items through Harrassowitz. After configuration, orders made through Harrassowitz will automatically appear in TIND.
- Automatically creates basic bibliographic records if necessary
- Automatically creates items
- Fund codes and vendor codes can be set from Harrassowitz
Read more about Harrassowitz integration in our documentation.
New API features
We’ve added several new API features for programmatically managing records and files.
Searching and exporting bibliographic records
A new search API allows for searching and exporting of records. The API is designed with scalability in mind, and allows for efficient exports of the entire catalog.
- Provides simple API access to search
- MARCXML export option to allow exporting record metadata
- Allows to export the full set of records in any collection – even all records of the entire repository
- Authentication to control who has access to export records
Read more about the search API in our documentation.
Updating bibliographic record metadata
We’ve added a record API with support for write operations, similar to the batch uploader.
- Programmatically update records
- Create or import new records using your own scripts and tools
- Supports insert-or-replace and append mode.
Read more about the record API in our documentation.
